Engine compartment fire suppression system

Engine compartment fire suppression system introduction.

With the increasing number of spontaneous combustion in automobiles and the improvement of people’s safety awareness, vehicle fire extinguishers have become a must-have facility to carry with them. Here we introduce the application of a new type of aerosol fire suppression system for engine compartment fire.

When a fire occurs in the engine compartment, the thermal sensitive wire is ignited by an open flame or the ambient temperature reaches its starting temperature(175℃), and the fire extinguishing device is activated to release the condensed aerosol fire extinguisher gas in a sol state to control and extinguish the fire in time.

Compared with other types of automobile fire extinguishing devices, this product has the advantages of small size, easy installation, fast and effective fire extinguishing, easy storage and long shelf life.

We adds a protective layer outside the thermal sensitive wire, and at the same time transforms the traditional linear thermal line into a mesh, which greatly improves the reliability of this type of product.

As a small vehicle-mounted automatic fire extinguishing device, this product can protect people’s cars and even save people’s lives at critical moments. I believe that it can play a greater role in today’s widespread use of private cars.

What causes engine compartment fire?

Survey statistics show that most of the fires in automobiles are caused by aging wires or poor contact, which eventually lead to short circuit fires in the circuits inside the car, or the aging, cracking, falling off, and burning of fuel pipes cause fires.

Data analysis shows that vehicle fires, especially the engine compartment fire, often have the characteristics of fast fires and violent fires, and if the fire cannot be controlled in time, it will directly lead to the scrapping of vehicles, jeopardizing the safety of car owners and road safety. It only takes ten minutes for a car to catch fire and burn to the frame.

Therefore, when the spontaneous combustion of automobiles has just occurred, or has not spread after the occurrence, forming a large scale and difficult to control, it is the best time to extinguish the fire, and it is also a critical period for extinguishing the fire. The gas fire extinguishing system belongs to one of the four traditional fixed fire extinguishing systems (water, gas, foam, dry powder). As an efficient fire extinguishing equipment, aerosol fire suppression system has the characteristics of small size and convenient installation and use.

It can be installed in a specific location that is prone to fire in the engine compartment of a private car, and can effectively extinguish the early engine compartment fire.

Composition of aerosol fire suppression system

The aerosol fire suppression system consists of four parts: thermal sensitive wire, high temperature resistant shell of trigger element and fire extinguishing agent storage tank.

components of condensed aerosol fire suppression

1. Thermal sensitive wire

When spontaneous ignition occurs, the thermal wire is ignited by an open flame or the installation ambient temperature reaches its starting temperature(175℃) and transmits the fire source signal to the trigger element.

2. Trigger element

The triggering element is located inside the aerosol fire suppression system, and is composed of an electric initiator and a thermal initiator. When the triggering element is triggered by the heat-sensitive wire, the generating agent can be chemically reacted. The generating agent will release hot aerosol fire extinguishing gas in a sol state from the nozzle during the reaction.

3. Aerosol extinguishing agent storage tank

There is aerosol generating agent in the device, through the dual fire-extinguishing effect of physical absorption and chemical blocking, the fire-extinguishing reaction mainly occurs on the surface of the nano-particles that form smoke. higher efficiency.

Aerosol fire suppression system working principle

Generally speaking, the aerosol used in this device is a stable state system formed by the diffusion of tiny solid or liquid particles in a gas.

From a professional point of view, it refers to a colloidal system composed of gas as the dispersion medium and solid or liquid particles as the dispersoid. The aerosol is stored in a solid form, and it is not volatile, so there is no leakage problem, and it has a longer shelf life and better fire extinguishing effect.

Condensed aerosol fire suppression system is essentially a smoke fire extinguishing technology. Hot aerosol generating agent is oxidized and reduced to generate hot aerosol fire extinguishing agent for fire extinguishing. The third-generation aerosol (S-type) mainly uses strontium salt as the main oxidant. Unlike the second-generation potassium salt (K-type) aerosol, the strontium ion does not absorb moisture, does not form a conductive solution, and does not cause damage to electrical equipment.

Aerosol fire suppression system vs dry powder fire extinguisher

a. Fire extinguishing effect. Our S-type aerosol fire suppression system has an effective fire extinguishing agent dosage of 100g/m3, which is the same level as superfine dry powder. In addition, compared with ultrafine dry powder, aerosol fire extinguishing agent has strong suspension characteristics and spreads evenly in the entire protection space, which can effectively extinguish the dead corner fire and prevent the fire from re-ignition.

b. The stability of the agent is high, and the stability of the spraying process is high. The fire extinguishing agent of the new aerosol fire extinguishing device is to install the specially coated solid agent in the fire extinguishing device. The ultra-fine dry powder will have the phenomenon of moisture absorption and hardening, and the nozzle is easy to be blocked. In particular, the non-pressure storage pulse dry powder fire extinguishing device has a large impact force and is easy to cause secondary damage.

c. Cleanliness and secondary damage. The ultra-fine dry powder is difficult to clean after spraying, and it is easy to absorb moisture, and the substances produced are corrosive. The new S-type aerosol exists in gaseous form after spraying, and will dissipate in the atmosphere within a certain period of time, and the micron-sized metal oxide particles are non-corrosive and non-toxic.

d. Small size, light weight, various installation forms and easy maintenance. The new combined aerosol fire suppression system is about 1/2 of the volume and weight of the dry powder fire extinguishing device with the same fire extinguishing efficiency. Suitable for design and installation in small and crowded spaces.

Dry powder installations can only be suspended, and our aerosol fire suppression system can be installed in a variety of ways. The dry powder fire extinguishing device needs to check the pressure and the state of the dry powder regularly. If the pressure is insufficient or the dry powder is agglomerated, it is necessary to disassemble the supplementary gas or replace the dry powder agent, while the aerosol fire extinguisher is maintenance-free within the validity period.

Aerosol fire suppression system for vehicle engine compartment

In summary, aerosol fire suppression system is suitable for vehicle engine compartment fire.

In addition to being used in various types of vehicles such as private cars, passenger cars, and trucks on the road, aerosol fire suppression system can also be applied to a wider range of places. It can be used in power distribution rooms, generator rooms and other places that are left unattended for a long time, and can also be used in cable interlayers, cable wells, cable trenches and other relatively narrow and crowded spaces, which are difficult for personnel to enter and inconvenient for inspection. , the place of care, effectively prevent the occurrence of fire accidents and reduce the economic losses caused by fire accidents.
